The toughest battles took place in the archipelago.
The Front Museum organises guided boat tours in the Hästö Archipelago, which is the eastern part of the Hanko Front where much of the drama unfolded in the summer of 1941.
The tour takes place by boat. You will go ashore where the Soviet troops landed and attacked, then proceed to the Finnish defensive positions and see where the battles took place.
During the journey, you will hear detailed stories about how the battles unfolded and get an insight into what life was like at the front.
The contrasts to the present day are striking. During the war, the waters were stained red with blood. On the very rocks where our soldiers once fought, today’s summer visitors now sunbathe. The tour leaves a strong impression, and you’ll return home with a sense of having truly come close to history.
And what really happened to Paavo?
